New Project: Automation and Process Control Workshop

The project will comprise a series of practical experiments, of gradually increasing complexity, whereby the user will be able to "wire" various control devices to a central process controller (termed Programmable Logic Controller, or PLC for short). Using a very basic script, the user will be able to program this PLC to perform various tasks by controlling its connected devices.

What's on for this year?

Well, that's a rather tricky question for me to answer....
I have so much that I would like to accomplish, but how do I assign priorities?
I did a quick analysis of the interest shown in all my last year's projects and came out with the following top five :

1) 3DRad Special Tutorials....the Mindstorms robotic tutorial
2) Meccano World
3) R6 Robotic Arm
4) Surfing Simulation
5) My First Real Game

Funnily enough, the odd one out is "My First Real Game" which is, at the moment, an empty page. But folks insist on visiting it and being disappointed to see nothing there. This sorta tells me that I should be thinking of filling it soon, but with what? I need to decide on some unique and interesting fun game, which can utilize my special interests. Maybe I can expand on the "Surfing Simulation" and turn it into a game?
I'd like to maintain the current interest in the others....so with that in mind.....another 3DRad Mindstorms robotic project, a series of  working, interactive Meccano mechanisms from the popular 1970s "Meccano Mechanisms Set", and work towards making my R6 Robotic Arm more user friendly.
The one project that is going to take my special attention is the Virtual Science and Technology Lab. At the moment it is an empty room. I have to start aquiring all the bits and pieces of apparatus that are going to make it an interesting place to visit.
Well, thats it....no doubt other things will crop up throughout the year to throw me off track... but at least I do have some kind of plan.

PLEASE POST ANY SUGGESTIONS...ALL ARE WELCOME!

Well, a year later, the Aunt Sally Fun Machine is now completed and working. I normally like to complete tasks as soon as possible, but in this case I was completely side-tracked with some other projects which had worked their way higher up on my bucket list.
A video and a demo download are available on the relevent webpage

I've been renovating my Virtual Workbench room into a
Virtual Science and Technology Lab. This will be the future venue for all my demonstrations and experiments.

UDK - Here I come!

With 3DRad currently in its death throes, I've decided I need to broaden my horizons. So I've downloaded the free Unreal Development KIt (UDK) and bought myself two Kindle books ("Unreal Development Kit Game Programming with UnrealScipt: Beginner's Guide" and "Unreal Development Kit Game Design Cookbook").
I'm going to lock myself away for two weeks, whilst I conduct myself an intensive course to get to grips with the basics.
I like the idea of having all the design tools in one bag and being able to apply OOP (Object Orientated Programming) based script to all objects.
I'm thinking of using UDK to develop my "Hometown Walkthrough" project.
Oddity is still my first choice for my physics-based  projects.
